    Facelift????

Every auto magazine and website says the 2007 Cayenne will have the facelift (due fall 2006). RC has said that the facelift won't show up until MY 2008 (late summer/fall 2007). Are all the magazines and websites wrong or has RC got this one wrong? I tend to believe RC, but why does everyone else think the facelift is coming with the next model year? Anyone have any news on what is really coming later this year?

Most peeps agree spring/summer 2007 or about 16 months.

I suspect you are right. There sure are a significant number of sources that say model year 2007 (which would mean arriving 3rd quarter 2006), including Motor Trend magazine, Automobile magazine, Popular Mechanics magazine, Jalopnilz, Roadfly, Edmond.com, John Holtz Porsche dealership in Rochester, NY, Lefthand News and others.

Since the sales of the Cayenne have dropped considerably one would wonder why they wouldn't speed up the facelift to try to generate sales. And the arrival of the ML63 AMG later this year may really hurt the sales of the turbo.

The Facelift is coming summer 07....MY 08

The ML63 wont eat into Turbo sales as it appeals to a a) different kind of driver and b) looks like rubbish.

The Turbo S just came out - I can't imagine many people would be very happy spending $130k to see a new shape come out 3 months after a model introduction.

Luxury SUV sales in general have declined significantly (high gas prices have not helped) - so the Cayenne is following normal trend.

    Re: Facelift????

I do not know when a new modelyear arrives all over the world. In germany a new modelyear starts around may/june. Maybe that different countries will have different times to start with a new modelyear, maybe also in different years. But as sayed: I do not know ...

New MY cars come out Mid YEar....Example...An 07 Cayenne will be available late this summer. The Facelift will come in MY 08. It also makes no sense to change a shape midway through a model year.

Not all SUV sales have dropped. Look at this announcement from Mercedes about the sales volume of their ML's in January 2006:

"In 2005, Mercedes-Benz significantly enhanced its competitive presence in the luxury light truck market with the launch of an all-new design of its popular M-Class model line and took advantage of the opportunity to create a new segment with the introduction of its R-Class, Grand Sports Tourer. Sales for Mercedes vehicles in the luxury light truck segment continue to gain momentum with a 156.6 % increase over January 2005."

Last numbers I saw for Porsche showed a very significant drop for the Cayenne.

I do think the ML63 will cut into the sales of the overpriced Cayenne Turbo, just as sales of the ML 350 and ML 500 have cut into the sales of the Cayenne and Cayenne S. The ML will cost around $40,000 less than the Cayenne Turbo S, yet has better acceleration. Over at a Mercedes discussion group, a lot of the potential buyers of the ML63 had also considered a Cayenne, myself included. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A lot of people do not like the looks of the Cayenne.

Not meaning to bash the Cayenne. I would seriously consider the face-lifted model. I just don't think I want to wait another 16 months.

    Re: Facelift????

I wouldnt be suprised if the facelift comes out a bit sooner. My guess is around march 2007.

    Re: Facelift????

I am very surprised that there is little written about the cayenne facelift. I have the same dilemma. Currently have a Cayenne S thats six months old and am eyeballing the Turbo S but worried about facelift arriving this fall.

RC said MY `08 and I trust him. But then again....

    Re: Facelift????

Who cares about the facelift - the change is so minor - have you seen the spy shots?

    Re: Facelift????

The ONLY real thing about the '08's is the extra power... 285-290 on the upcoming V6 and 360-375 on the NA V8.

Most people feel that along with the cosmetic changes, there will also be engines with more HP. And the change is a little more than minor. Different slope on the front hood, different headlights and larger air intakes on the front. Plus the tail lights are about 30% larger than the current ones. I think it will be easy to spot the new version. About as much difference as that between the current Boxster and the one it replaced.

You don't have to worry about it coming out in calendar year 2006. Also, I can confirm that RC has it correct, it is an '08.

The change is NOT minor, one reason why it takes longer.

    Re: Facelift????

    Rc is right.
Changes are not minoe. New headlamps, new front apron, new tail light, completely redesigned rear apron with integrated mufflers. I am sure there will also be some interior mods. Alas slight ones.
In addition to new engines, that's almost a new model...
