Land Rover Defender 90 V8 - any thoughts?

Land Rover Defender 90 V8, not a sports car of course but do you guys have any thoughts as a daily driver?

I kind of like this tiny thing, don't know why. Smiley

Reminds me a little bit of a mini G63...

I could get one at a very interesting price point, this is why I'm asking.

Not a rocket but this little thing does 0-100 kph in 5.0 seconds and has a 240 kph top speed.

100 to 200 kph in 12.70 seconds, not a rocket, like I said but quite impressive for such a small but heavy off-roader (yes, this is a serious off-roader, not a SUV).

The new Defender looks cool but reliability is still an issue as it is a Land Rover.

I thought about buying one when it first came out but knew better. I am batting 2 for 2 with Land Rover products with broken stuff, first was a LR3 and then the SVR.

Toyota 200 Series Land Cruiser (no longer avail new, but go find a good used one).....pretty much bullet proof.

I checked with various Defender car forums and the new ones, especially the V8, are bulletproof. No issues, only issue seems to be the entertainment system (software crashes from time to time and restarts at random).

Land Rover offers a 5 year warranty here...

My Trackhawk is going away next year (lease) and I got a very good offer for a new Defender 90 V8 Carpathian Edition. Car has zero kms, just registered to the dealership for a few months and they offer it for 118k EUR with winter wheels (which would cost around 4k new). MSRP is 146k EUR here. Already drove it (another showcar they have), so much fun to drive and it really sounds good (though not as loud as a SVR for example).

Smiley Smiley I like the Defender 90 V8 a lot, it also drives quite nicely, the suspension is stiff enough for some curves and the steering is also more direct than in the versions with smaller engines. Quite a nice product from Land Rover but still not sure.

Funny, everyone I talked to here (men, women, kids, everyone) seems to think the Defender 90 V8 looks cool. I guess there is "something" about this car and it's design.

If you are leasing it, then doesn't hurt to take a chance. But if you are buying it, well, that means you are stuck with it.

Maybe you are getting a good deal up front on the purchase, but there are no free lunch so check on the resale value first.

Smiley If I get it, I will buy it (offer is/was pretty good) but I think I'll wait, I still have the Trackhawk and it doesn't make sense to get the Defender before the Trackhawk lease runs out.
Land Rover is still making the Defender 90 V8 and maybe I can get an even better deal in spring/summer.
